‘I left school with enough qualifications to play sport and have 1,000 hours reduced from my building apprenticeship. After qualifying, I left the trade to go dairy farming.
Many years later I sold my 3 farms and moved back to Auckland and entered the marine industry selling luxury boats. I sold this business to establish an importing/distribution company specialising in the supply of furniture to the hospitality and motel industry.
In late 2004 I sold my house, business, boat (kept my lovely wife of 33 years) and left Auckland for a tour of our wonderful country. It was during this trip we decided to get involved in the tourism industry and as a result thoroughly enjoyed our time motelling in Napier – where we owned and operated a lovely motel in the city fringe.
The lure of grandchildren brought us back to Auckland and my current involvement with Resort Brokers, where I am the broker for accommodation businesses and properties in the Rotorua and Taupo areas.
I have interests in property development, an inbound tourism operation, and enjoy the great outdoors – especially trout fishing.’
